Kavya Bansal

I am Kavya Bansal, a ceramic sculptor driven by curiosity, material exploration, and the endless possibilities of clay. My practice is deeply rooted in experimenting with different clay bodies and glazes, where each surface becomes a space for discovery and expression.

I am especially fascinated by the chemistry behind ceramics—the way oxides interact, how minerals transform in fire, and how colors emerge through carefully balanced glaze compositions. Understanding the science behind these transformations inspires my artistic process and helps me create surfaces that feel alive, organic, and unique.

I love working with different colored clays, allowing the body of the material itself to become part of the visual language of my sculptures. Rough textured glazes, earthy finishes, and layered surfaces are central to my work, as they bring depth, character, and a tactile quality that connects the viewer to the piece.

For me, ceramics is not just about form, but about the relationship between material, texture, fire, and emotion. Every sculpture is an exploration of both art and chemistry—where intuition meets process, and where raw earth transforms into lasting expression.
